Oriental Lily Bulbs. Fresh & New Bulbs Lilies are divided into many groups within horticulture but some of the most widely known are the Asiatic and Oriental hybrids. Asiatic lilies tend to flower earlier than Oriental lilies and do not normally have a scent. Oriental lilies generally have a very sweet and powerful fragrance. How to plant lilies: The easiest method for planting groups of lilies is to dig a large hole, allowing enough space for the lily bulbs to be planted about 6 inch apart. Many lilies produce stem roots below the soil surface so make sure you plant your bulbs at a depth of three times the height of the bulb. Planting deeply also protects the bulbs from extreme weather
